Fargo Charter School is committed to excellence in world-class academic standard.  We must prepare our students to survive with global competition as a charter school, we continue to tear down the traditionalism influencing education and develop innovative strategies,  which positively impacts students achievement to success.  All children have the opportunity to learn to their maximum potential in an environment that recognizes the individuality of learners.

In order to guide student growth, Fargo Charter School has established the following guiding principles:

    1. Student Achievement

...Every student should be provided with a variety of learning opportunities, which continually challenge him/her to meet his/her fullest potential in all areas.

    2. Curriculum

...A challenging course of study, which develops knowledge, thinking skills, and competencies that can be applied in all aspects of one's life, should be implemented. It must be diversified enough to encompass present and future needs of students.

    3. Technology

...Technology should be used to enhance learning and should be used as a tool of instruction rather than a focus of instruction.

    4. Social/Emotional Development

...A schools environment, which encourages respect for others and provides opportunities for modeling and practicing social skills, should be fostered.

     5.  Parental and Community Involvement and Partnerships

...In order to be successful, the students, parents, school, and community must form a working partnership.

    6. Safe Environment/ School Climate

...Staff must have the right to a nurturing and secure learning environment, free of fear and disruption.

    7. Assessment/ Accountability

...Our school should take responsibility for setting its own standards of accountability in evaluating itself and student achievement.  Assessment should be authentic, multi-faceted, and ongoing, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses for improvement and reflecting the curriculum and individual student achievement. Parents, students, administrators, teachers, and other staff members should share accountability.

    8. Teaching Strategies/ Instructional Methods

...Students should encounter a number of teaching strategies designed to meet their needs and to challenge them to become actively involved in their own learning.

    9. Improvement of Professional Skills

...In order for professionals to instill within students a love for life-long learning, they must be life-long learners themselves by continuously improving and expanding their skills and then putting these new educational methods into practice in the classroom.

    10. Productive Employment in a 21st Century Society

...Students should be provided with the necessary competencies and technological skills for future productivity in a global economy.

    11. Responsible Citizenship

...Development of respect and appreciation for self and the diversity of the community needs to be instilled within each child.  Students need to be given the tools and skills that enable them to become responsible and contributing members of society.

    12. Life-Long Learning

...The learning process is never-ending; it is essential that we provide a firm foundation and instill within students the desire for life-long learning.
