GOALS AND OBJECTIVES Fargo Charter School personnel and parents gather baseline data during the first nine weeks of each school year in order to understand student capabilities, to set standards for each child, and to write Individualized Educational Plans for each student. Fargo Charter School personnel and the Fargo Planning Council establish goals and objectives which are built around growth for each student and growth of the school as a whole. These goals are developed on an annual and long term (five year charter period)) basis. Other goals and objectives, which represent the five essential areas of operation (reading, mathematics, language, learning environment, and parent/community involvement), have already been written: GOAL 1: Reading Fargo Charter School students will improve reading abilities by participating in an interdisciplinary curriculum. GOAL 4: Learning Environment Fargo Charter School students will increase learning skills in a safe, inviting, and supportive learning environment Objectives:
GOAL 4: Parent/Community Involvement Fargo Charter School will create a cooperative working liaison between the school, parents, and the community. Objectives: 1. Parents will be offered opportunities to demonstrate commitment and involvement in student learning. 2. Fargo Charter School and the Fargo community will organize a Parent/Teacher Organization 3. Parents and community members will volunteer their time, talents, and energies toward school activities and projects. 4. Parents will sign and adhere to Fargo Charter School's educational compact showing commitment to the educational program. 5. Parents will collaborate with teachers through conferences held throughout the school year. 6. Parents will be represented by the Fargo Planning Council. 7. Parents and community members will use Fargo Charter School as a community center before and after school hours for community meetings, services provided by social agencies, Internet search, and workshops. 8. Parents will participate in writing goals and objectives for their child's Individualized Education Plan.
