GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

    Fargo Charter School personnel and parents gather baseline data during the first nine weeks of each school year in order to understand student capabilities, to set standards for each child, and to write Individualized Educational Plans for each student.  Fargo Charter School personnel and the Fargo Planning Council establish goals and objectives which are built around growth for each student and growth of the school as a whole.  These goals are developed on an annual and long term (five year charter period)) basis.  Other goals and objectives, which represent the five essential areas of operation (reading, mathematics, language, learning environment, and parent/community involvement), have already been written:

GOAL 1: Reading

Fargo Charter School students will improve reading abilities by participating in an interdisciplinary curriculum.

Objectives:

  1. 1.  Students will be provided reading instruction through the use of the Georgia Performance Standards, the Georgia Learning Connection, and the Clinch County School System Learning-Focused prioritized reading curriculum.

  2. 2.  Students will increase reading skills by participating in the following reading approaches:

  • Four Block Literacy

  • Saxon Phonics

  • Accelerated Reader

  • Sustained Silent Reading

  • CCC SuccessMaker

  • Technology

GOAL 2: Mathematics

Fargo Charter School Students will improve mathematical abilities by participating in an interdisciplinary curriculum.

Objectives:

  1. 1. Students will be provided mathematical instruction through the use of the Georgia Performance Standards, the Georgia Learning Connection, and the Clinch County School System Learning-Focused prioritized mathematics curriculum.

  2. 2. Students will increase mathematical skills by participating in and using the following math programs and materials:

Saxon Math

CCC SuccessMaker

Manipulatives

Mathematical Games

Technology

 

GOAL 3: Language

Fargo Charter School students will increase language abilities by participating in an interdisciplinary language based curriculum.

Objectives:

  1. 1.  Students will be provided language instruction through the use of the Georgia Performance Standards, the Georgia Learning Connection, and the Clinch County School System Learning-Focused prioritized language arts curriculum.

  2. 2.  Students will increase language abilities by participating in and using the following language programs and approaches:

Four Block Literacy

Saxon Phonics

CCC SuccessMaker

Daily Oral Language

Journal Writing

Storytelling

 

GOAL 4: Learning Environment

Fargo Charter School students will increase learning skills in a safe, inviting, and supportive learning environment

Objectives:

  1. 1. Students will progress as a result of having an Individualized Education Plan developed for them.

  2. 2. Students will progress as a result of being enrolled in reduced size class.

  3. 3. Students will progress as a result of participating in the following grouping configurations:

    • Cooperative Learning Groups

    • Inclusion

    • Individual Workstations

    • Achievement Level Groups

    • Small Groups

    • Whole Groups

    • Multi-age groups

     

  4. 1.  Students will progress as a result of parent and community involvement.

  5. 2.  Students will progress as a result of being in a safe and physically comfortable environment.

  6. 3.  Students will progress as a result of being valued as individuals with unique physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs.

  7. 4.  Students will progress as a result of exposure to and use of modern technological advances.

  8. 5.  Students will improve self-esteem and motivation as a result of positive relations.

  9. 6.  Students will improve self-esteem and motivation from awards and recognition received on a six-week basis.

 

GOAL 4: Parent/Community Involvement

Fargo Charter School will create a cooperative working liaison between the school, parents, and the community.

Objectives:

1.  Parents will be offered opportunities to demonstrate commitment and involvement in student learning.

2.  Fargo Charter School and the Fargo community will organize a Parent/Teacher Organization

3.  Parents and community members will volunteer their time, talents, and energies toward school activities and projects.

4.  Parents will sign and adhere to Fargo Charter School's educational compact showing commitment to the educational program.

5. Parents will collaborate with teachers through conferences held throughout the school year.

6.  Parents will be represented by the Fargo Planning Council.

7.  Parents and community members will use Fargo Charter School as a community center before and after school hours for community meetings, services provided by social agencies, Internet search, and workshops.

8.  Parents will participate in writing goals and objectives for their child's Individualized Education Plan.
