Text Box: CCHS Graduation Rate is Improving Clinch County High’s graduation rate is improving. This year’s graduation rate for CCHS was above the state average – 75.6 percent – for the first time in recent history. At Thursday’s Clinch County Board of Education meeting, school graduation coaches went over recent data with board members. According to CCHS graduation coach Susan Fortner, the Class of 2007 graduated 68 of the 90 class members who started ninth grade. Last year, the graduation rate was 68.9 percent. The year before (2005), it was 55.2 percent, and in 2004, the graduation rate was 54.8 percent. The state average in 2007 was 71.1 percent. “And we still have a few students taking the graduation test again,” said Fortner. “So this figure (75.6 percent) could get better for this year.” The new middle grades graduation coach, Amanda James, also spoke to the board about her position.
